Holding Grief Together

  • Penn Forest Natural Burial Park 121 Colorado Street Verona, PA, 15147 United States (map)

A monthly meeting space to sit, breathe, feel and hold clay with other humans.

All of us will experience grief, multiple times and simultaneously with other emotions and events in our lives. Rarely, is there space to simply notice and hold that grief with others. Whether you have or are experiencing grief of a person, relationship, situation, or a version of your own self, you are welcome here. You are welcome to sit, be still with the grief, notice how and where it shows up in your thoughts, body and actions.

This offering is facilitated by Elizabeth Frenfrew. Elizabeth is an artist, yogi, reiki practitioner and educator integrating breath, guided visualizations, gentle movement and clay as a practice to move and transmute energy through the body. She has been deepening this practice over the last 10 years and excited to share together, in an effort to create a space for collective healing.

Elizabeth is holding space once a month through the summer for folks to come together, sit on the ground (if accessible to you in your body), breathe together, and notice sensations arising from the body around what you are grieving and how it feels in the body. She will guide you through a breathing practice and visualization, gentle movement, and introduce clay as medium to channel, place and store the energy that you notice in your body. This is a way to practice with clay that allows for your intuition to guide your movements into forming clay.

Any person is welcome to explore the self in relation to grief and with others. This is a practice of slowing down to feel sensations and moving through them with the clay in your hands. While the focus of the event is not designed to create a specific finished piece, if folks are called to create a grief container out of clay, various methods will be demonstrated through the practice.

There is no prior experience needed with clay. You do not need to commit to each date. Each class will explore the body, breath and grief in a different way.

This is a free event for the community.
